Post-Prom
1999 and 2012 (redo)
Post-Prom was realized for the group show The Bastard Kids of Drella, Part 9, curated by Steven Parrino. The film Carrie inspired the mood of the installation. Directed by Brian De Palma, it is the story of an awkward highschool student named Carrie White who possesses telekinetic powers.
The installation was composed of used party leftovers that included a swarm of bumblebee table centerpieces, a deflated balloon rainbow, and a suspended box that rained confetti when passed under.
During the opening, I was disguised in a bat’s mask and hid under the refreshment table blindly pouring drinks with only my hands visible. |
